Estate Vineyard

Entirely grown and selected from our North Block, planted in 2001 and 2002, predominantly Dijon clone 115 with smaller amounts of clone 667, 777 and 828 from our West Block.

2016 Vintage

The 2016 vintage will be remembered for the hot, drought like conditions that Prince Edward County  farmers endured. While short droughty periods in summer are common, the duration without a rain of over 5 mm extended to 10 weeks at Rosehall Run. The heat and humidity that followed in September kept us on our toes and close attention had to be paid to max out the potential for the finicky Pinot Noir. We were rewarded with excellent flavour development with slightly above average yields.

Tasting Notes

This is a medium to full bodied Pinot Noir with enticing smoky cherry on the nose and notes of dried herbs, layers of raspberry, cherry and black currant with lively acidity followed by toasty oak and sweet smoky characters, long and lingering finish.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Enjoy with charcuterie or pork dished like rosemary pork chops, smoked pork loin, ideal with duck and other game birds, like duck confit or grilled quail. This elegant wine also pairs beautifully with smoked cheese like Gouda or Gruyère.

Critical Acclaim

“Such a beautiful nose of fresh crushed cherries, rhubarb, raspberry, bramble, minerals and perfectly harmonic spice notes. It has bright and penetrating red fruits and wood spice on the palate and shows depth, complexity and concentration through the finish, yet maintains freshness to the end. You can cellar this lovely Pinot for 3+ years.” Score 92 Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com
